The Saluki is an ancient breed that predates Christianity. It is named after the ancient Arabian city of Seleucia, the home to possibly the oldest known civilization. Renderings of this breed can be found on Egyptian tombs as early as 2100 B.C., and their bodies have been found in tombs in the upper Nile region – mummified just like the Pharaohs of the day.
