Nazi Saluting Dog Looks for New Owner

In Germany, a dog named "Adolph" is now searching for a new owner, after his previous owner was sent to jail for teaching him how to salute like a Nazi.

The dog's owner, Roland T, a Nazi sympathizer, was ordered to cease his public expression of Nazi sympathism, but the man, who apparently suffers from brain damage due to an accident, has not done so. So now he's in jail.

The Daily Mail, a UK-based newspaper reports that if Adolph's new owners don't train him to forget the offensive trick, Adolph may end up being put down...

But new owners could land in the same fate if the German Sheppard crossbreed continues to raise his paw to hail his namesake, dictator Adolf Hitler.

So the nine-year-old dog – now renamed Adi – will have to learn a new trick – and quick - if he is to avoid more trouble from the country's ardently anti-fascist authorities.

Opinion

I guess it just goes to show that Germany is still a fascist state, if you can't be free to express your political beliefs, regardless of how perverse they might be.

If Roland T truly is brain damaged from an accident then this is just a sad, SAD story all around. Here's a man who has no other companion than his faithful dog, and being punished for expressing his beliefs, and not totally understanding what the State wants from him.

And now a dog that may ultimately face death because he too doesn't understand what the State wants from him.

I usually explained Jet was a black, glossy, semi-precious gem stone. Most people had heard the saying, "black as Jet" but had no idea of the origin, including the owners of the three other Jets I've met.

Oban is a town in Scotland and also a whisky. :D But a few people have asked me, "what, OPEN? As in closed?"

In my pet first aid class I talk about pets who swallow things - shoes, balls, socks - and string. String is a favorite of cats and potentially very dangerous. If the string gets as far as the intestines it can twist around and cause some real damage. For that reason, cat owners are cautioned not to try to pull the string out, but to get the cat to the vet.

Here’s an example of a dog, named Cody, that swallowed a string…but not just any string. This string was actually a fishing line…and on the other end of the line was a fish hook! Can you say OUCH?! Had his owner tugged on the line to try to get it out, it could have been really bad news for little Cody.

It was one fishing trip that almost killed an East Texas man’s best friend. Ed Pauley of Lake O’ the Pines is used to having his dog by his side when he fishes, but last week his four legged friend just didn’t look right. That’s because his dog has swallowed a fish hook.

He is a pint-sized bundle of energy named Cody, barely three pounds, but a familiar site at the Bullfrog marina every weekend with his owner Ed.

Last weekend Pauley and his friends were fishing off the dock when he looked back and saw fishing line hanging from Cody’s mouth.

“Oh I don’t know really what I thought right then, but I knew I had to get it out,” said Pauley. Cody had swallowed treble hook, or triple pronged hook, which can be deadly for dogs. Pauley rushed him to a Longview vet and after a two hour surgery Cody was back in business.

“He had to have it out, and I’d do anything I could,” said Pauley. For both, the bond between owner and dog is strong.

So, the moral of the story is if you see string…any kind of string…hanging out of your pet’s mouth, it just might be time for a visit to the vet!

So these two girls seem to really like one another. But my Dixie weighs about 65 lbs, while puppy *name undecided* only weighs maybe 15 lbs. Dixie just clobbers her. I've pretty much kept them separate because Dixie is just crazy about this puppy.

Any suggestions? I know since they are both puppies this is going to be something that happens, I just worry about the little one getting hurt :(
