Hey all
I was at dog training class the other night and heard about a lady I know that breeds Dobermans. I guess she sent one of her girls for a spay and she bled out during the surgery and died on the table. As far as I know she wasn't used for breeding so she hadn't had a litter yet. This woman treats her dogs like children so I know this must be killing her.
Its not something I hear about everyday. Spays are so common that people don't think they are dangerous at all. I was a vet assistant for 3 years and I never saw a bitch die on the table (although we had a close one with an older girl) but it is very invasive surgery and anything can go wrong.
I can't imagine losing my pet to a procedure like that.
