I have a phone appt. with the specialist on Monday afternoon to discuss Nacho's test results and the plan for the coming days/weeks/months, but I thought you guys might be able to offer some advice in the meantime :)
I am assuming Nacho's health problems are auto-immune (he has had such a dramaticly wonderful response to the steroids in such a short time, it is very likely this is the case).
He is 9 months old and I neglected to have him vaccinated against rabies thus far. I know- my bad. Can dogs on steroids have vaccines or does their suppressed immune systems complicate this decision?
Can dogs on prednisone be neutered or are there add'l surgical risks? I didn't seriously consider breeding him before, but now with a possible genetic tendency towards auto-immune disease, there is no way!
WIll he be able to play with other dogs or is his immunity too compromised? He loves playing with his litter-mates, but I don't want to expose him to anything if is discouraged.
Thanks for any input!
