CODY: lab/chow, gold, 11 years, male.

His past owner says:Cody is about 11 years old and he is a Golden Lab/Chow cross.  He has the lab look about him but the chow shoulders. He is quite a big dog and he will run straight at people but will turn at the last moment and hit them with his butt as he sits at their feet.  He has not been fixed (he will be after his bloodwork comes back ).  He LOVES to play ball. Pretty much his favorite thing in life.  He has been around cats and though he hasnt hurt them he will try and put their head in his mouth. Im not sure what that is about but when I would call him he would just let go and leave the cat alone.  He hasnt been around kids in his life but when friends would come over and the kids would throw the ball he was fine with them.  Again I think Cody would love anyone if they throw his ball.  He is quite an active dog for his age but he also has slowed down within the last year or so. I have noticed changes about him.  Cody will not jump up on people. That is something I wouldnt allow when he was growing up.  When you are feeding him he will get excited but I havent had him jump on me. Cody will eat anything you give him but we feed him leftovers and dry dogfood. I have put Cody on a leash but he is quite a big dog and is able to pull people right off their feet. I even tried with a choke chain and he does calm down after awhile but it is a stuggle at first. When I was teaching him to go on a chain they didnt have those harness so Im not sure if that would help him from lunging.

DAVINCI: pitbull/sharpei, white/black/tan, male, 2 years,72 pounds.

UPDATE: Davinci is a goofy, clown of a loving pet. He loves to sit on a kitchen chair with the rest of the gang - he thinks he is a "people". Davinci knows that stting pretty (begging) just might earn him a tidbit. Seeing this big guy on a small metal chair sitting pretty will always make us grin! He has also learned to "high - 5" and takes the smallest bite of food very gently. My husband gives him the tiniest bits just to see how gently he takes it! This boy is loads of fun, gentle and sweet - an awesome companion for a lucky person.

Davinci (named after the TV show not the book) is a Burns Lake pound pup. He has been vet checked, vaccinated and neutered and has found his safe haven at Turtle Gardens. Davinci is a very social boy – gets along very well with all the dogs in the communal yard including dear Hero!! He has very good doggie social skills. Davinci likes people of all ages and is very friendly but does not jump up. He has very good manners. He walks well on leash, knows sit and will “sit up” too! He is enjoying coming in and out of the house – he comes in to check on me, get a little loving and strolls back out again. He will be an incredible companion for a lucky family.

JAIME:sharpei mix, beige with dark markings, female, 1 year.

Jaime was returned because her demodex flared up again and her owner could not deal with it. Demodex is an skin condition due to an inherited immune deficiency from her mother and in her case her grandmother as well. Dogs will "grow" out of the demodex as the immune system matures usually by age 18 months to two years. Jaime is responding well to her treatment - ivimec and antibiotics as well as high end nutrition.

Jaime is a friendly, good natured young girl who loves cuddles and attention. She is dog social and plays well with the other pups - her "cousins" the rottie mixes. Jaime has very short legs with lots of wrinkles on them and her face. She is only 13.5 inches tall and weighs 25 pounds. Jaime walks very well on leash, sits for treats, is totally housebroken and has good manners. She travels well in a vehicle and is an ideal size to go everywhere. Jaime has never ben around small children so a home with older kids would be best. Jaime will be a devoted loving companion for a lucky family.

JOEY: terrier/shepherd, black and cream, male, 6 months.

Joey is a character! He is funny, friendly and full of beans.  He is very dog social and has good doggie skills. He and Rudy play tag for hours. He is also very people friendly - all ages - he loves everybody. He sleeps quietly all night on the floor beside the bed tho he will try to sneak up during the night!  He is 90% housebroken. He travels well in a vehicle, walks ok on leash and is a happy, good natured boy.  Joey will be an awesome family companion. .

KARIE-ANN: Sharpei/dane, black/white/tan, female, 2 years.

Sadly Karie-Ann is a return as she teamed up with roaming dogs and got into mischief. Her owners did not have a fenced yard to keep her secure while they worked. Karie-Ann is an awesome dog with proper supervision. She is totally housebroken, knows sit, shake a paw, walks beautifully on leash and travels very well in a vehicle. She is very friendly with people of all ages - she ADORES kids!!

Karie-Ann has excellent doggie social skills and plays well with all ages and sizes of dogs. She likes to play with toys and interacts well with dogs/people and toys. Karie-Ann will be a superb companion for an active family  who will enjoy a big lovable companion.

PUPPIES: terrier/cocker spaniel mix, brown mixes, 1 female, 3 male, born May 23, 2006

UPDATE: July 19th - pups are now 7 weeks old, feisty, busy, outgoing. They are going outside with the other pups and having a good time running around. They are very people/dog social.

These little sweethearts were found with their mom on a back road - alone and lost. Mom has found a home and will be spayed once she has weaned her babies. Two of the pups have wavy hair, two are short legged while the rest will have normal legs. They are very social and come running when they hear my voice. They are learning good doggie social skills and are learning to follow us outside to potty - they are very bright! They will be vaccinated and vet checked before adoption. One female has already been spoken for. They will be ready to leave at 8 weeks of age - near July 23rd. Transport when they are 9 weeks of age - July 28th.

PLATO: rottweiler/sharpei, black/tan, born December 8/2005, 2 males, 1 female.

Plato weighs in at   50 pounds. Moses is the one who most looks like a sharpei with masses of wrinkles on his face. Pattycake has the most tan on her face. All of them are docile, gentle natured pups.

Busy playing with toys, or rough housing together, these gentle pups will steal your heart.  They will be a lot of work - housetraining, teaching them manners, leash etiquette and all the fun things happy dogs do. We would prefer homes where someone is home most of the day as they really are just babies and need structure, love and routine to grow up as good canine citizens.

Rudy: sheltie/jrt, red, male, 9 months, 14 inches tall, 22 pounds.

An ideal family companion, Rudy is wonderful with all ages of children from the smallest crawler to kids who want a companion to rough and tumble or play catch with. Rudy is also very good with cats and other dogs. He is relatively housebroken, walks very well on leash, knows sit and is a follow you kind of guy. If a pal who is underfoot all the time is not for you then neither is Rudy. Rudy sleeps on the bed cuddled as close as he can get. If you are sitting down - he is on your foot streched out sleeping - waiting until you get up. Usually quiet, Rudy ki-yi's if you leave and he can see you on the other side of the fence. He is quiet though if you are gone from his sight. Rudy needs a family who will understand his needs and fulfill them to both your satisfaction. Rudy is a treasure for the right family - a totally, awesome companion.

Storm is a champagne colored lab x shepard/husky, spayed female, just over a year old. She is extremely intelligent and hyper.  Whoever choses to adopt her must realize that she is a handful, not in a bad way, she is super eager to please and just really hyper. Learns quickly. She would make a great agility dog, then she could focus her energy somewhere. I have been going back and forth deciding to give her up or not, but it is what is best for her. She rides in the back of the truck, or front, knows sit, stay, is great off leash, comes excellent when called, even from far away. Doesn't pull on the leash, gets along great with every dog she's met so far. She is also a vocal dog, barks when she plays, warns of strangers, barks at sirens. I wouldn't reccomend a home with small children, as she would probably end up knocking them over.

Srorm will stay with her owner until a new home is found

NIKE: husky mix, sable, 14 years, neutered male.

UPDATE: Nike is a special boy who needs a soft bed for his remaining days. Although it may not be for a long time he will give you lots of love and  devotion. His owners never realized that he was BLIND.  So Nike will need a secure yard to roam around, and a real home with a family to love him. In return Nike will be a pleasant, quiet companion to follow you around.

Nike is the type of dog that should be
around other dogs as he enjoys their company, ideally he would like to stay with his bud Cody.  Nike is not a ball fetcher or really active, just a nice old gent.  Just don't get between him and his dinner, he can get quite grumpy with anyone around his dinner plate.  He has a very thick coat and prefers the great outdoors as inddors is too hot for him.  If you have a well fenced yard and some time to give consider Cody & Nike
